Association Nepal was first created in February 2001, its structure and projects evolved through the years. It is a non lucrative organisation whose mission is to support Nepali population through sustainable education and health projects.
The Association is the fruit of magical encounters and unconditional love. Year after year, friends from the East and the West united their forces to make a difference for the poorest from rural areas of Nepal.
A youth, who went to Bombay to make his career on Movie Industry, got a chance to see something terrible on the streets of Bombay and the street children on the train station platform which led him come back to Nepal and work for the community. Uttam Sanjel, powerhouse of altruistic energy with unselfish regard and devotion to the welfare of the society, had come up with an idea with Bamboo school that has the lowest infrastructural costs. He calls his schools Samata Shiksha Niketan, ‘places of study and peace’. Samata School charges a fee of Rs 100 per month for all the grades from nursery to Class 10. This fee has been in constant since its establishment on 2001. Samata School has now been expanded into 11 different locations within 8 district, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavreplanchowk, Sindhupalchowk, Chitwan, Nawalparasi, and Makawanpur. Last year only, 11 students from the first batch appear on the SLC board, all of them graduated with first division mark with a minimum of 75% marks. Samata School currently has 16000 students.

Since 2001, APC-Nepal provides the street children of Kathmandu with a sympathetic ear, moral support and a wide range of facilities, including various shelters with living conditions where they can feel secure and have the freedom and opportunity to learn and develop.
Since its inception, APC has realized that street children can not and should not be considered as passive victims of their family, society, or fate. On the contrary, in spite of their young age, they need first to be listened to, empowered and respected as the prime actors of their lives and decisions. This realization has never ceased to guide APC’s development throughout the years, and has greatly contributed to making APC one of the most successful NGOs for street and marginalized children in Nepal.
Nowadays the association cares daily for more than 400 children through 5 centers running 10 different programs designed to fit the needs of the most destitute children, living and working in the streets of Kathmandu.
In 2010 thirteen young Nepalese people who had been rescued from trafficking and the streets turned to contemporary circus to build their self-esteem and to chart a path out of stigmatism and poverty. Circus Kathmandu powerfully demonstrates ethical, creative and entrepreneurial alternatives. Our model creates real life, inspiring success stories, helping young people to take control of their own lives and to also become human rights advocates.
